ALERT 9-1-1:
Use this function In the event of a life threatening or other critical emergency to notify emergency services of your exact location and that you need assistance. The GEOS International Emergency Response Center alerts the appropriate agencies worldwide for example contacting 9-1-1 responders in North America and 1-1-2 responders in Europe.

HOW IT WORKS:
Once activated, SPOT will acquire its exact coordinates from the GPS network, and send that location along with a distress message to a GEOS International Emergency Response Center every five minut

A lot of people don't know that you don't have to buy an expensive car or truck to have a GPS system. You can purchase small units that plug into any car cigarette lighter. The unit is portable and easily stores in the glove compartment when not in use. You may want to consider this as an option for a GPS car tracking system if you have a limited budget. GPS tracking for cars is a good way to prevent disaster should an emergency situation arise.

If you do choose to purchase a larger more involved unit you will want to make sure it fits in with the design of the car or truck you have. If you want a unit that has a monitor display of area maps then you should have the available space for it to be mounted. Generally these display units are attached to the dashboard. You don't want the monitor device to obscure any air vents or controls you may need to make use of. Being able to drive your vehicle comfortably is the first consideration so a mounted GPS system should never cause interference with your driving ability.
